AMAND-R's RECOMMENDATIONS PAGE

I used to have a huge rec page, but as I am pairing down my whole site, I hate the layout of it and it would take too long to make into something I like. So how about a fresh start. Recs sorted by date added and fandom.

09.24.04 Rec—ilicious. Tasty nuggets that melt in yo' mouth.

I haven't done this in a long time, but my folder with stories to rec continued to grow. So here we are. A lot of stories.

HARRY POTTER

Blowing Origami and Things that Really Suck by Zahra.
I would say this is DM/HP but I'm not sure. It may be supposed to be such, but really, Malfoy hates Potter so much. Backstory on the origami crane is phenomenal.

Draco Malfoy, Ruler of the Universe by Maya.
Really, this story is funny as hell, in which Draco is actually the prophesied one and not Harry. Of course, Draco treats the title in a much different way.

Letters to a Young Gentleman by Halrloprillalar
Letters from Draco to Harry and so forth.

Minor Arcana by Isolde.
This actually has several parts, but I have just linked to the first one. The Ministry brings back a traditional Rite of Courtship, but it's being used for nefarious purposes. That doesn't mean that Snape and Harry can't take advantage of it to court each other. Yay!

The Origins of Myth by arsenic.
Draco is stripped of magic and left stranded in Mongolia/China. Ron finds him, and rebuilding must begin. Yes, that's right, it's DM/RW. Woo.

Secret Keeper by Tradescant.
Snape is Harry's secret keeper. Beautiful language and a sense of silence from the characters that is believable. Link takes you to the front page.

Sense & Sensibility by PhoenixAkai.
Very short, but lovely. Harry Potter and Severus Snape are nothing alike, but they clasp hands and begin to complete each other. Link takes you to the front page.

Walking Shadow by Pogrebin.
Harry Potter is dead. Hermione is in prison, and she's batshit crazy. Or perhaps very very sane. I loved this because it has all the stability of an unraveling sweater. Oh and unlike everything else in this section, not slash.

X-MEN, MOVIEVERSE

Blackout by Jamie.
Rogue never thought she'd be able to repay Logan for saving her life. She was wrong.

The Centerfold Series by multiple authors.
I call this movieverse fic even though it has a lot more characters in it than what might be movieverse, simply because the L/R dynamic is much more movie-esque. The summary is "Logan buys a magazine, and gets the surprise of his life." I like it because it's kind of funny. Not the best bit in the universe, though.

End of Summer by Macha.
Summary: 'the summer ends and we wonder where we are.' I like this Logan, and I really like this Rogue. L/R, but you knew that.

X-MEN, COMICVERSE

A Fire of Unknown Origin by Alestar.
Logan is lost in Apocalypse's wake, and only one man can truly understand. Dudes, it's Logan/ Warren, both post-Apocalypse. Woot.

RUROUNI KENSHIN

Aoshi by Jink246.
Make no mistake, this is poorly formatted and not as good as it could be, but the concept is rather interesting, what with Aoshi crossdressing and Kenshin actually doing something about it. Plus I like the underhanded currents in the story, as Aoshi seems to ask for something I'm not entirely sure of. But perhaps that's just me.

Ukyioe by Mimi.
The year before Kenshin leaves Hiko to join the revolutionary forces. Slashy, master/student, oddness. Oh and ceramics.

BUFFY/ANGEL

do you realize? by beth c
A dead letter sent from Lilah to Fred. Unexpected and brilliant.

war weary by dolores.
A dead letter sent from Oz to Giles. I liked this one because I can hear Oz's voice in this.
